Kai's First Birthday Sneak Peek

I can’t believe that this little guy is now a whole one year old! Kai has been coming into the studio since he was 3 months old and I’ve so enjoyed watching him grow. His first birthday photo session was pure fun with lots of laughs and smiles, and we celebrated in style with cake for his first trip around the sun!

Kai was still such a happy baby for his big 12 month photo session! He is now a fast crawler and we all got our workout of the day with trapping him or moving him back to the floor for his pictures. We chatted about how far he’s come as I watched him learn how to sit over the past year and now he’s a sitting pro who can escape and crawl off to get into mischief.

We did a blue balloon background for his first photos and he had an adorable little blue outfit to match. He loved getting to hold a few balloons or examine the letters with lights. He also had a blast in the various chairs and as long as he could hold a car in each hand, he was happy to go wherever we asked.

Then we switched to a space background with the sun and planets for his “first trip around the sun” theme. Kai was still in a fantastic mood and we snagged a few photos of just him being his happy self before bringing out the cake.

He had no clue what he was supposed to do with the cake, but he did give it a few hearty pokes, a few licks of frosting off his fingers, and he tried his very best to get individual sprinkles into his mouth. He also tired of it pretty fast and wanted to crawl around, so his parents laughed and got him back over and interested in the cake several times. And even when it ended, Kai was still happy to go with the flow of whatever came next!

I absolutely love when I have these types of opportunities to see babies grow over a year and get to really know the family. I wish him a wonderful birthday filled with family and even more cake with sprinkles!
