Ava and Zoe's First Birthday Sneak Peek

Ava and Zoe are celebrating their first birthday soon and came into the studio for a fun cake smash with their adorable baby elephants shirts. The girls were not the happiest at being in a strange new place but gosh were they still cute, and I loved watching how they interacted, for better or tears!

We started with nice portraits and my jungle background which coordinated so well with their elephant shirts and their lion and elephant stuffed animals. The girls took some time to get comfortable with the big light and me being a new person, and music helped while mom and dad worked hard to help these sweet babies relax.

We were able to get several great pics of the girls together and then individuals of each baby. The girls were rock stars at sitting in the curved white chair and in the basket. One little girl even sucked her arm like my son had when he was a baby, and I must say it was a fun memory for me as I have rarely met other babies who’ve comforted themselves like that.

Both mom and dad got in the frame for a family picture and I always give credit to twin parents for handling all those baby emotions times two. I honestly think my favorite pic is with mom holding both girls and they are just being babies, trying to get hair, not sure if this is what they want, and mom’s got it! My own favorite pic of myself with my kids is where 3 of my kids had just lost their cool and I’m in the middle acknowledging this is true mom life.

The girls had two strawberry cakes for their cake smash at the end, and they were absolutely not fans of any part of it. But we laughed it off, let them be babies, and we still captured several great pictures of the girls being sisters in that moment - I love it.

Whether the girls enjoyed the cake and attention, they were still adorable and it doesn’t faze me to have kids in the studio who just are feeling big emotions. I wish these girls the happiest birthday and give a giant high five to the parents for getting in a workout during our time together capturing these precious memories.
