Emi's First Birthday Sneak Peek

I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I last saw this family! And that sweet Emi is now one year old! She was the tiny little Valentine baby I got to photograph last year and we pulled out all the stop for hearts and pinks. This time around, we had the gorgeous flower wall and celebrated with a pink and gold winter wonderland theme for her birthday pictures.

Emi was super shy when she came into the studio, and she wanted to keep her parents close by as everything was so different to her. I don’t blame her at all for being so uncertain about the big light and set up, and so we worked hard during her session to get her to relax and be more comfortable.

She would give us little times of calm with her snacks and her big brother was a huge help at getting her to sit with some blocks. He had no trouble accepting the food and was such a great help by sitting next to her, showing her the blocks and snacks, and just trying to comfort his sister.

Emi also relaxed with her favorite music from mom’s ipad, so we just went with it! She was such a sweetheart and with some music we were able to capture some pictures of her standing and showing off her walking skills.

We ended with a splash bath but Emi was so over the entire experience that we decided to quickly take those last photos for her parents to use later and embarrass her in front of her friends. As a mom of a tween now, I know those pics are important :)

Sometimes that’s just how it goes and it doesn’t faze me that she was being her genuine self and needed some extra snuggles with her parents that day. I still think we captured some beautiful pictures of a beautiful little girl, and the bonus is she still got to celebrate later with family. Happiest birthday, Emi!
