Emma's First Birthday Sneak Peek

It was so great to see Miss Emma again as the last time we met she was just a few weeks old and in the studio for her newborn session. Her mom picked whites and simple curtains for the theme to keep the focus on Emma and she was an adorable mix of being very serious or smiling and laughing.

Emma was very serious to start, which is completely understandable to be in a new place with a big studio light and person you don’t know. She just looked around and sat with her props for the first few pictures before she realized this wasn’t so bad.

Then she was picking up the blocks or the beads and smiling as her parents sang songs or she snuggled one of her stuffed animals. Her mom had brought some great props to add to our set, like lovies to show how much she’d grown this last year, a little rabbit Emma could sit on, and some boxes spelling ONE.

Emma loved the chairs and really started to open up and have fun - she especially liked sitting on her rabbit. Then we got a few quick pictures with her parents before setting up for her cake smash with the balloon display her mom had made.

Emma wasn’t sure about the cake or what she was supposed to do with it at first, and it took her a while to try a bite. She mostly enjoyed banging it with her hands and then marvelling over the frosting coating her fingers. Her mom had worked so hard on the beautiful cake and it was perfect for Emma’s classic theme.

By the end, though, Emma was all smiles at how she’d “smashed” her cake! It was a great way to end such a fun session and I wish her the happiest birthday with more cake and fun!
