Even If You’re Nauseous, Take Maternity Photos

Congrats to you, mama-to-be!

If you're like a lot of the soon-to-be-mothers I meet, you may be a little camera shy right now. Especially when you're seven to nine months pregnant. And who can blame you!

Growing little humans is a huge deal

After all, your body has changed over the last several months, your baby is sitting low and you probably feel uncomfortable even walking from the kitchen to the living room sofa. Believe me, I can absolutely relate as a mom of 5!

So why take maternity photos?

Let me tell you something- You are gorgeous.

You are stunning. In this moment, you are the absolute epitome of natural beauty. And every single picture we take together will showcase the inherent grace and elegance that accompanies all women with child.

You’ve got the bump and the glow

I've said it before and I'll say it again: there is an unparalleled glow that radiates from a pregnant woman. A glow so unique to pregnancy that it's impossible to replicate under any other circumstance. These maternity photos be treasured by you, your significant other, your friends and family and, yes, your unborn child, forever.

It's a fleeting time

So if you need a little more info on what to expect before you make the final decision to add a maternity session of your own, take a look at the details below and see if it fits your vision.

When is Best Time for Maternity Photos?

The bump knows best

The simplest answer to the question about the timing for a maternity session is “when you have a baby bump”.

Normally the start of your first trimester

This is typically when you are in your third trimester and have a beautiful pregnancy belly that we can photograph. There are lots of women who show sooner with their babies, especially if this not your first pregnancy.

But times are flexible especially for medical needs

And I’ve worked with many moms who needed to take maternity photos earlier that their last trimester for medical reasons, like being put on bed rest or a change in delivery plans. Needless to say, there is a level of flexibility to when to schedule maternity pictures. I typically just advice waiting until there is at least a little bump to feature.

Where Do You Take Maternity Pictures?

Outdoors in the golden hour

I offer my maternity sessions outdoors and I have several favorite locations in the Aurora, Centennial area I can suggest. If you have a specific location in mind or want to discuss something special to you and your pregnancy, just let me know!

I have several favorite locations with blog posts to help narrow our choice

I enjoy working outdoors as I love the casual, Colorado feel that we can dress up or down with your wardrobe.

What Does a Maternity Session Include?

I help you look your absolute best

I will walk you through posing and how to stand, where to look, etc. so you look your absolute best for the camera. Some photos will feature that adorable baby bump, some may be silhouettes of your frame, and others will capture the bond between you and your significant other.

I provide a guide with wardrobe tips and colors

Feel free to bring along older siblings for these special portraits to truly capture this time before your family grows by another little one. Then it’s like a special family session along with a maternity session.
