Grayson's Newborn Sneak Peek
It was such fun to see this family again and meet their new baby, Grayson! I had the honor of photographing their oldest son for his newborn pictures a few years ago and it’s always a joy to see clients again as their families grow.
Grayson was an adorable little guy weighing in at over 9 pounds at birth. So while he was definitely smaller than his older brother, I had to use some of my bigger props and buckets for him as he was bigger than most newborns who come into the studio.
We were able to capture sleepy poses in the big props after Grayson first arrived, which was perfect for his sibling photos with him on the twig bed and then tucked into a bucket. But then he woke up hungry and decided to remain wide awake even after his feeding. Even with a snug swaddle he was alert for his family pictures and he showed off his ninja abilities to get his hands out of his wraps.
Grayson was able to stay awake the entire rest of our session so while I wasn’t able to capture sleepy pictures of him, we did a few different swaddles and wraps and got beautiful photos of his eyes. He wasn’t upset or unhappy by any means, but he very much wanted to be alert and aware of all the new things happening around him.
That being said, I just went with his lead and we still did fall themed images with different swaddles and baskets and I was able to get a few poses on the beanbag where he was calmly gazing around. Then right at the very end he started to get tired and gave a fantastic smile on my final camera clicks. So I’d say it was definitely worth that last swaddle and basket for that final awesome image!
I wish this family a huge congrats on your new little boy! And I so hope to see you again over this next year as both your boys grow and change.
