Gavin's Buffalo Plaid Rustic Cake Smash

Check out this cutie who came in over the weekend for his big cake smash and first birthday photos! It took him a minute to warm up to all the excitement and the big lights, but after he got settled there was no stopping the joy of his cake smash. And boy, did he smash that cake!

We started off with some nice photos against the classic denim background. Gavin was a great little sitter in the curved white chair, and I loved his adorable leather baby shoes. We did bribe him a tad with some goldfish, but what mom hasn’t used goldfish as a bribe at one point or another. (I know I’ve done it too many times to count, or traded goldfish for M&M’s)

Then we switched over to our rustic cake smash theme with a wooden background. We added in buffalo plaid props and a bear banner along the back plus a wooden heart bowl, ONE letters, and a brand new red truck. Let’s not forget the red lantern that’s always a hit with toddlers, since right when it loses it’s luster I can turn it on and capture magical photos.

Then Gavin got to devour his aspen cake and he thoroughly enjoyed every bit. He was a joy to watch as he ate fistfuls of cake and made sure to lick off the frosting from the chocolate antlers. Right at the end when we thought he was done, he stood up and gave a fabulous view of his cute diaper cover before eating a final chunk of cake.

What a fun afternoon spent with a happy baby! A big thanks to his family for letting me be part of such special memories and for sharing your little guy with me for an hour.
