Dana and her husband, Bryce, had a gorgeous evening for her summer maternity session. The couple selected two of my favorite spots for their photos, one near a little lake with water over the rocks and the other with the hill overlooking the mountains at sunset.

We started at our water location since it’s at a lower elevation for that beautiful golden hour light. Dana had a perfect little black dress and we captured photos among the water flowing over the boulder. Bryce was a great help moving some of the dead grasses and hoping in and out of pics, plus making sure Dana had a hand while walking around.

Those darn sprinklers were on again but the couple was so great at being flexible around them and then timing our last photos while they were pointed away. In fact, those pics by the lake are some of my favorite as the sky was reflected in sunset colors on the water.

We drove over to our final location just as the sky started to glow orange. Dana changed into a white lace set that showed off her beautiful baby bump. We walked the area capturing the sky and summer flowers in the background, and then the couple and I headed down the hill a bit.

Here were the tall summer grasses and I love this spot as the sky glows at sunset and the area feels like a little nature preserve. We ended there with gorgeous pictures against the sunset and a fun dress toss curtesy of Bryce.

It was such a joy to get to meet this couple as they anticipate their first little one’s arrival! I can’t wait to see them next in the hospital for their Fresh 48 pictures and later in the studio when they will officially be a family of three.
