Simmy was back in the studio for her Berry First Birthday photo session, complete with strawberries galore and a yummy cake smash! She also was full of smiles this time, which made for lots of laughter and fun as we captured these special birthday memories with portraits and cake.

I love this strawberry theme for first birthdays, and had such fun pulling out the strawberry background and props for Simmy’s session. Her mom also had two adorable outfits that perfectly matched the theme, with the first being a pink dress with berries all over and tulle fluffy sleeves.

Once Simmy got comfortable with the studio and the big light, she loved playing with the pearl necklaces and showed off some huge smiles. She also loved all the different chairs and baskets we used, but I think her favorite was the curved chair as she felt so big swinging her legs in it.

After snagging a great picture of her with her mom, we got everything ready for her cake smash. Her mom had handmade the cake which smelled delicious and was topped with strawberries.

Simmy had no problems digging right in, licking frosting and eating strawberries. In fact we had to make sure she left the stems as she was so excited about all the treats! She chatted with us, babbled, and grinned making it such fun to capture her exploring her cake.

She told us she was done when she started crawling away, which is so normal and happens all the time once babies realized they have more freedom than they originally thought. After a few more swipes of frosting, we gave a big cheer and mom got to take home the rest of that yummy cake for them to eat.

It truly was so much fun to be part of Simmy’s first birthday photos, and I wish her an awesome party with family and, of course, more cake!
