Gemma's Newborn Sneak Peek

I waited a long time to meet sweet Gemma, who had to postpone her newborn pictures for several weeks after she was born. Gemma needed an extended stay in the NICU for several health reasons, and I was so glad she was now home and ready to capture these special photos for her family.

I’ve met Gemma’s family before for her older sister’s first and second birthday photos, and it was great to now meet the newest little one in the family. Gemma was one of the older babies I’ve photographed due to NICU stays or other needs, and yet she did a great job during all her pictures.

We did a purple theme and her mom had mentioned she created a nursery with purples and underwater animals, so I added in some pops of blue in a few headbands and flowers. I wasn’t sure which props would fit as Gemma was almost 2 months old for her session, but she did great on the twig bed and in my new large wooden bucket.

She also loved being swaddled, so I took the opportunity to play with a few different colors of wraps and styles. We got some photos in my circular basket, on the cream blanket, and even in the heart bowl which doesn’t always work with bigger babies.

We ended with different poses on the bean bag, and Gemma let me even try taco. That one is where you pull up the toes together and tuck them both underneath an arm and usually newer newborns can still curl that way but not always as babies grow. Yet she was a champ and I truly had fun playing with different poses and adding wraps for this special girl.

A huge congrats to this family on sweet Gemma and adding such a precious baby to your family! I can’t wait to share this little peek with you!
